6. Using the Digital Drum Software & Game

This chapter discusses the VirtualDrumX Software program including the Game program. First is a discussion of what you need to do before starting the program, followed by a discussion of the operation of the program.

6.4 Digital Drum Operation Menu

If you selected ¡§Digital Drum,¡¨ from the main menu, the Digital drum operation screen will appear as shown in Figure 1.

A. Open Previously Recorded File ¡V Use this button to open a previously recorded file.
B. Save Recorded File ¡V Use this button to save and name the recording of your drum play. You can record your drum play along with the music CD supplied with the VirtualDrumX.
C. Stop Recording/Play Back ¡V Use this button to stop a recording or a playback
D. Start Recording ¡V Use this button to start a recording.
E. Play Recording ¡V Use this button to play your recorded drum play.
F. Drum display: when drumming, the related pad being struck will be highlighted.
G. Play control:

H. Track Title ¡V This window displays the name of the track title currently selected.
I. Time Code ¡V This is the total elapsed time from the beginning of the Music CD to the current position.
J. CD Counter ¡V This is the total elapsed time from the beginning of the track to the current position.
K. Speed ¡V This is a representation of the tempo of the selected VirtualDrumX Music CD audio track (beats per minute), with 1 being low speed and 10 being high speed.
L. BANK NAME: name of timbre composition
M. BANK: timbre list
N. Timbre composing switch
O. Timbre composing switch
P. MIXER: volume control
Q. ADJUST: sensitivity control
R. EXIT: exits this menu and goes to prior menu
S. JOYSTICK: selects the controller to use for the software programs
T. CD-ROM: position of CD-ROM
U. MAIN: displays general volume current setting (to adjust use MIXER)
V. CD: displays music volume current setting (to adjust use MIXER)
W. DRUM: displays drum volume current setting (to adjust use MIXER)

6.4.1 Introduction for manipulation:
1. CD-ROM selection:This selects the CD-ROM drive to use for all the VirtualDrumX software programs and is required to begin using the software. Insert the music CD into the CD drive you intend to use. Select the CD-ROM drive by clicking the two triangular arrows on the left and right of this control button to switch it. When the proper CD-ROM drive is detected, the red ball will become green. Once it is green, leave this setting in place.(Figure 2)

2. JOYSTICK selection:This selects the controller to use for all the VirtualDrumX software programs and is required to begin using the software. Select the joystick controller by clicking the two triangular arrows on the left and right of this control button to switch between controllers. When the VirtualDrumX device is found correctly, the red ball will become green. Once it is green, leave this setting in place.( Figure 3)

3.Select timbre: The VirtualDrumX digital drum is pre-configured with 17 sets. Click (Figure4.5) to switch current timbre composition. You may click F1~F10 on your keyboard for the fast selection.

4. Volume control: To adjust volume, click and hold the left button of the mouse and ¡§drag¡¨ the setting to either left or right to adjust volume controls (Figure 6)

6.Sensitivity adjustment: To adjust sensitivity, click the sensitivity button. The sensitivity adjustment panel will appear as shown below(Figure 10)

7. Selecting a music track: After inserting CD, click ¡§Previous Track¡¨ (Figure 11)or ¡§Next Track¡¨(Figure 12) to choose a selection.

6.4.2 Record

6.4.3 Instruction to share recorded files

6.Select the song lists: Click ¡§ PLAY CONTROL¡¨ to select the song of the recorded files, search by click the button (Figure 34.35).

6.4.4 Volume control:

Click MusicGameMixer in MusicGame or DigitalDrumMixer in DigitalDrum to Volume control.

To adjust volume, click and hold the left button of the mouse and ¡§drag¡¨ the setting to either left (minimal) or right (maximal) to adjust volume controls. Note: If the volume in the display cannot be shown normally (if ie. Always shows zero), it indicates that the function is not available, the drummer must use the system speaker volume control to adjust volume

Enable/disable Sensitivity control:

Sensitivity control is for CHN1~CHN6, To check-mark enables (Figure 41), an empty check box without a check-mark disables (Figure 42)

Adjust the Sensitivity:

Sensitivity control for 6 pads.(CHN1~CHN6) to click and hold the left button of the mouse and ¡§drag¡¨ the setting to the left (HIGI), get the maximal numerical (the maximal -0) for high sensitivity, to ¡§drag¡¨ the setting to the right (LOW), get the minimal numerical (the minimal -9) for low sensitivity (Figure 43)

To adjust numerical, click and hold the left button of the mouse and ¡§drag¡¨ the setting, for the fine tuning. (Figure 44)

Enable/disable the Hi-Hat control:

To check-mark enables (Figure 45), an empty check box without a check-mark disables (Figure 46), the original setting for HI-HAT is disable to all the standard play, to enables Hi-HAT when you wish for the professional play.

Adjustment Max Volume control:

Max volume control for CHN1~CHN10 pads, to click and hold the left button of the mouse and ¡§drag¡¨ the setting up to get the maximal numerical (the maximal -0) for high max volume , to ¡§drag¡¨ the setting down for the minimal numerical (the minimal -9) for low max volume (Figure 47)

To adjust numerical, click and hold the left button of the mouse and ¡§drag¡¨ the setting, or to click¡¨¡¨ for the fine tuning.(Figure 48)
