6. Using the Digital Drum Software & Game

This chapter discusses the VirtualDrumX Software program including the Game program. First is a discussion of what you need to do before starting the program, followed by a discussion of the operation of the program.

 

6.5 Sound Bank Timbre Editing Panel

If you selected ¡§Sound Bank¡¨ , from the main menu, the Sound- Bank (Timbre) editing panel screen will appear as depicted below. This menu allows you to see and change the sound (timbre) associated with each drum pad in each composition.

A. Editing display:This set of buttons indicates the particular drum pad selected in the sound-bank/timbre editing menu. After you open a bank name in the right side menu and select a position, the selected pad number will blink while selected. Note that Drums 1 & 5 are special drums: Drum 1 has two timbres (CLOSE and OPEN), while Drum 5 has a hand-activated pressure switch under the bottom of edge of the drum pad (this switch is Drum 7 in this menu) with the function of muffled sound (Tone Mute Choke Control).
B. Timbre list: All of the timbres are listed in this area.
C. Apply: Applies the timbre to drum setting.
D.BANK LIST NAME:timbres list
E. Name of timbre composition: Name-input of timbre composition.
F.Select¡Gselect the timbre list
G. Details of timbre composition: This area gives details of the timbre composition of all drums.
H. Delete: Deletes a timbre composition
I. Add: Adds a new timbre composition.
J.Apply: To apply the choice timbre into swift setting
K.F1~F10 select button
L. F1~F10 setting list
M.restore advance
N. Exit: Exits from the Timbre editor and returns to the prior menu.
O. Save: Stores (saves) the timbre composition.

6.5.1 Editing Timbres

1.Adding new timbre compositions: To add new compositions and edit different compositions to your liking, click ¡§Increase Timbre Composition¡¨
2.Deleting timbre compositions: To delete a timbre composition, click ¡§Delete¡¨ to delete the selected timbre..
3.Opening details of timbre compositions: To examine or edit a timbre composition, you must first open the tree-shaped list to examine the composition details where the timbre is assigned to each drum pad .This is particularly useful after adding a new composition so that you can edit the timbres associated with each drum pad.

4.Editing timbre composition: When you select a composition and one of its drum pads that you want to edit (Figure 3¡V Position 2), all timbres available to be assigned to that pad are listed on the left side of the screen. (see ¡§position mark 1¡¨) When you select a timbre, you will hear its unique sound played through the speakers or earphones. Once you are sure that you want to apply that particular timbre to that particular drum, click ¡§APPLY¡¦. (Figure 3¡V Position 3) You can also double-click the timbre to apply the edit. After applying, the new timbre for that drum is in effect.

5.Special drum settings: Note that Drums 1 & 5 are special drums. Drum1 has two timbres (CLOSE and OPEN). The open/close function is supported by optional pedal number 10 (see chapter on expanding your VirtualDrumX). Drum 5 has a hand-activated pressure switch under the bottom edge of the drum pad (this switch is Drum 7 in this menu) with the function of muffled sound (Tone Mute Choke control).

6.Saving timbre edits & changes: When finished: click ¡§SAVE¡¨ to save the changes.
7.Exiting the Timbre Edit Menu: Click ¡§EXIT¡¨ to return to the prior menu with your timbre changes in effect.
6.5.2 Steps for timbres setting

Alter the timbre list:

When you are in the compilation mode and wish to choice the different timbre list , click ¡§Select¡¨, the screen will displayed ¡§Bank List¡¨

A. Enter the bank name
B. Delete bank name
C. Reproduce bank name
D. Bank name list
E. Exit
F. Save

Reproduce the timbre list:

Select the events from the list (Figure 7-1), and set the new title (Figure 7-2) then click ¡¨reproduce¡¨(Figure 7-3) click (Figure 7-4) ,click ¡§Save¡¨ to store(Figure 7-5)

Delete the timbre list:

Select the events from the list to delete (Figure 8-1), and then click ¡¨delete¡¨(Figure 8-2) click (Figure 8-3) , click ¡§Save¡¨ to store (Figure8-4)

6.5.3 Steps of compilation swift function

Select the bank name:

Ex: To set your own timbre list into the swift function, click and set ¡§02 Bank¡¨ into ¡§F1¡¨, you may click ¡§F1¡¨ again to check the timbre position in ¡§F1¡¨

Setting for the swift function list:

I. Select the timbre you wish to set in the fast function, and click¡¨F1¡¨, on next the screen will display the setting ¡§Bank-2¡¨. (Keep repeating the steps for ¡§F2~F10¡¨setting)

II. Select the timbre you need and then click ¡§Apply¡¨, edit it to the bank position you want to set. ( repeat the steps for ¡§F2~F10¡¨ setting )

Default reset:

To reset default, click ¡¨default¡¨ button, and when the screen displayed, click ¡¨OK¡¨ for Default, ¡§cancel¡¨ to return .
